Create a charming and compact carpet or midground accent with Hydrocotyle tripartita 'Mini'. This delightful variant of the popular "Japan Clover" features significantly smaller, clover-like leaves, typically only a few millimeters in diameter. Its rapid growth and ability to form a dense mat make it an excellent choice for foreground carpeting in smaller tanks or as a unique textural element draped over hardscape.

Key Features:

  • Tiny Clover-like Leaves: Offers a delicate and attractive miniature foliage.
  • Compact Growth: Forms a dense, low-lying carpet ideal for small tanks.
  • Versatile Use: Can be used as a foreground carpet or allowed to climb and drape over hardscape.
  • Relatively Easy to Grow: Adapts well to various conditions.
  • Responds Well to Trimming: Can be easily trimmed to maintain the desired shape and height.

Planting and Care:
'Mini' Hydrocotyle is best planted in nutrient-rich substrate. Planting small portions with some space between them will encourage faster spreading. It spreads readily via runners. Regular trimming is essential to maintain a low and dense carpet if used as a foreground. It can also be attached to hardscape using thread or super glue gel (aquarium safe). Consistent light and adequate fertilization (including macro and micronutrients) will promote healthy and vibrant growth.

Bring a touch of miniature greenery and versatile texture to your aquascape with the charming Hydrocotyle tripartita 'Mini'.

  • Region/Origin: Cultivated variety, originating from the broader distribution of Hydrocotyle tripartita in Southeast Asia.

    Growth Rate: Medium to Fast

Height at Maturity: Typically forms a very low-growing carpet, reaching only 1-3 cm (0.4-1.2 inches) in height when maintained as a foreground. It can grow taller when allowed to climb hardscape.

Light Demand: Medium to High. For a dense, compact carpet, 'Mini' Hydrocotyle benefits from moderate to high light intensity. Insufficient light can lead to taller, leggy growth as the plant reaches for light.

CO2 Requirements: Low to Medium. While it can grow without supplemental CO2, its growth rate and the density of the carpet will be significantly improved with CO2 injection. Lower CO2 conditions may result in slower growth and less compact formation.
